Being a practicing nurse looking to return to school and advance in your career is not an easy task, but it is gratifying. Find in this post the best tips for a nursing student:

1. Personal care is vital.

Get enough sleep, drink plenty of water, exercise, and apply what you learn about nutrition. You must be able to care for yourself before taking care of others.

2. Develop good study habits and get organized.

Being organized is essential for just about everything you do. Have a vast calendar on the wall with all the exam dates and other important dates and a personal calendar (paper or digital) for the daily tasks you have to do. There are tons of books that can help you be more organized.

3. Ask your teachers for help when you have doubts.

Whether you are studying online or in person, never hesitate to ask your professors if any questions arise while you are learning. It would help if you also practiced until you are confident in your ability to perform it independently. Your classes will never be boring if you ask questions.

4. Form study groups.

Nursing programs are unique because the people you meet will likely be with you throughout the program and have the same classes. Make friends! Even if you study online, remember that nursing is a cooperative career where you have to work with others to give the best care to your patients. Your nursing student study group can become your support system, as they know what you are going through when you feel frustrated or discouraged.

5. Don’t forget to relax.

Have a good sense of humor, laugh, and breathe when things get complicated.

6. Believe in yourself and don’t give up.

When times are tough, remember why you want to be a better nurse, and if you’ve forgotten or feel overwhelmed, call your support group for help. You are not the only one going through this. Talk to your colleagues.

7. The Golden rule.

Be the type of nurse you wish you had if you were a patient.
